The Bastei near Dresden
Giant sandstone formations
Called Saxon Switzerland
Elbsandstein Village
at the base of the Bastei
and on the Elbe river
It was a beautiful little village.
We hiked from the top of Bastei down to Elbsandstein,
where we sat looking over the Elbe
and ate our lunches
which Mireille Menzel had kindly provided for us.
She included some homemade bread that had
hazelnuts, currents, raisins, and wheat.
It was fantastic!
After leaving the Bastei we hiked to a castle nearby.
There was another beautiful view of the Elbe,
of course.
